Resting on a Butterfly
There’s a butterfly caught in my hair
behind my neck, I feel its desperate flutter
I keep my body still
a trap for the blind butterfly
lost in a mindless sea of strings
legs and antennae push against my elastic skin
its abdomen pressing harder and harder
for another push with no results
it moves less and less
until it stops
now we are two entities
waiting
breathing
now I am resting on a butterfly
it allowed me to land on its fragile body
its will against mine
we push each other through the seconds
in an unlikely alliance
there’s a butterfly caught in my hair
I keep myself at peace
in this lonely embrace
this is how you escape the pain
you stop moving
you start feeling
you lean against a sign of life
you let a butterfly support you
