Where Two Continents Meet
soft words murmured
moist with tears and crushed hopes,
imprecise as dreams,
sloppy representations of seasons of pain,
sophisticated defenses against the world
this mouth at the crossroad
between the brain and the heart
struggling to bridge two continents
with dissimilar rules,
and unkindred geography
my vocabulary is incomplete,
there are whole pages missing
I don’t know why they are missing
maybe someone ripped them off
or I did it, once, when I was bleeding.
