Are You a Love-Abiding Citizen? A conversation with myself
No, I am not!
You see, I read poetry,
and I also write some.
I let the words
cut through my flesh,
chisel my eyes’ crystallines
so that I can untangle
what the world has done to me.
Are you a life-abiding citizen?
No, I am not!
You see, I don’t like Death
and how she slams us as she pleases,
and I don’t want to greet her gently
like her favorite pet
when she will feel like coming by.
Are you a love-abiding citizen?
You do not answer, and you smile?
It’s just a bunch of endorphins
some molecules kicking your cells,
you’re just a puppet with some buttons,
don’t play the role of the lost virgin!
You follow love?
You‘re to be hurt.
You’ve chosen pain.
Enjoy it then,
you love-abiding citizen…
